Beausoleil Fire Department
The Fire Department's mandate is to protect people and property by intervening as quickly as possible, anticipating risks, raising public awareness and preparing people as well as possible for different types of emergencies.
The Beausoleil Fire Department is the continuation of the Cocagne Fire Department, which was founded in 1987 with 28 volunteer firefighters. Today, the Fire Department is made up of 32 firefighters, comprised of a Chief (full-time), a Deputy Chief (volunteer), four captains (volunteer), one lieutenant (volunteer) and 25 firefighters (volunteer). The department's main fire station, Station One, commissioned in 1987, is located at 4893 Hwy 134 in Cocagne and is equipped with one engine, two tanker trucks, one medical pick-up truck, one rescue truck, two rescue boat's, and a side-by-side utility vehicle for off-road operations. Station two, commissioned in 2026, is located in Grande-Digue at 199 Hwy 530. It houses one engine, purchased in 2026, and one medical pick-up truck.
The Cocagne fire station responds to the Cocagne and Grande-Digue districts only. The Shediac Bridge/River area is served by the fire department of the neighbouring Town of Shediac, while the Notre-Dame de Kent area receives fire service from the Town of Champdoré (Saint-Antoine de Kent fire station).
A new junior firefighter program has been set up for young aspiring firefighters aged 14-18. A registration form is available for download or by contacting the fire department at 506-576-7932.
